Welcome to the Frontline Practitioner Training. This training is for practitioners including teachers, nurses, doctors, faith workers, case managers, other community advocates, and probation officers. This three-hour training will support your ability to assist in decreasing the incidence of targeted violence within the populations you regularly engage with through your professional work.
The training has been developed with the support of a grant from the Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships of the Department of Homeland Security awarded to the University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Psychiatry. The materials have been created in collaboration with subject matter experts from UIC, DePaul University, and Loyola University Chicago.
The overall goals for this three-hour training are:
We’ll begin by providing an overview and examples of the kind of violence this training will address. In the subsequent four modules, you’ll learn about specific concepts that shape how we understand targeted violence and steps you can take in your professional roles if you’re concerned about what someone is saying or doing.
