This module provides information on violence, and more specifically targeted violence, violence prevention, what healthy communities look like, the negative impact of violence on communities and individuals, the public health approach to addressing targeted violence, and the roles different community members have in supporting the health and well-being of their community.

Define violence, including targeted violence.
Recognize the similarities and differences between targeted violence and other forms of violence.
Describe the public health approach to targeted violence prevention.
Identify the roles of healthy communities and how community members in supporting the health and well-being of their communities, including violence prevention.
Describe the unique gatekeeper role frontline practitioners play in preventing targeted violence.
Describe the role of Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management Teams
Describe common barriers to intervening to prevent targeted violence and how this training helps to address those barriers.
Recognize the difference between what the training program is asking you to do and what it is not asking you to do.
