Module 2 Objectives

Mental health specialists should be familiar with current approaches to the assessment of risk for targeted violence. This includes familiarity with violence risk measures and with behavioral threat assessment and management approaches.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:  

• Understand the use of structured professional judgment measures.
• Identify different approaches to behavioral threat assessment. 
• Recognize the difference between threat assessment versus risk, needs, and strength assessments.
